MEET DR. BILL:
Dr. William Crutchfield has 30+ years of experience in the orthodontics industry. With this knowledge and experience, he aims to bring a higher standard of care to the teledentisry market.

Dr. Crutchfield has practiced orthodontics for over 30 years in the technology corridor of the Washington, D.C., suburbs. As a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Dental School and orthodontic residency, he has a keen interest and knowledge in the practice of orthodontics.

Consequently, he opened his own orthodontic practice directly out of residency. He has been a leader in the orthodontic community ever since. A Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Crutchfield has been very active in the specialty profession.

Dr. Crutchfield has served the orthodontic specialty field in many capacities. He has been the President of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists, and President of the Medical College of Virginia Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation. Moreover, he has served in the American Association of Orthodontists for over a decade as Chairman of the AAO Political Action Committee and as a member of Council on Governmental Affairs.

He shares his knowledge and experience of the industry through many advisory roles: Clinical Advisor for Suresmile and Orametrix, Key Opinion Leader for Imaging Sciences and iCAT 3-D radiography, Advisor to Ormco Orthodontic Company’s Insiders, Advisor to OrthoScience, and is an elected member of the International College of Dentists. As a result, he uses his input in these roles to evaluate and improve products, as well as educate others in the field about treating certain case types. 

Dr. Crutchfield is considered an early adopter of technology, a leading expert in digital orthodontic diagnosis, digital orthodontic treatment, and practice management for the digital orthodontic office. He is a frequent lecturer, writer, and advisor on digital orthodontic practice and related fields. Thus, Dr. Crutchfield believes that today’s technology enables the delivery of outstanding orthodontic care virtually, without the need for frequent – and often unnecessary – visits to an orthodontist’s office. As co-founder and President of Ortho Velocity, the parent company of Clear Blue Smiles, he will help lead the new revolution for clear aligners through teledentisry by making dental professionals an integral part of the treatment plan.
